Is this a good plan for getting experience in acting/television?

Kaylee Schmittou: Hi - I'm in the UK too, but to be honest, you'll hardly ever find open calls for anything - even adverts.Almost everything is cast through agents, and they simply won't be interested in you unless you've graduated from a major drama school after a 3-year course. You'd also have to have had loads of experience doing unpaid acting in stage plays of all genres and short films, student films, etc.I know many really experienced drama school graduates who have been trying to get an agent for several years without success.Even if you found an open call, you'd find yourself in competition with drama school graduates, and you'd be lucky to even get seen.Your best bet would be to try for a place at a big drama school, the details are on www.drama.ac.uk. after A Levels. Auditions for adverts are really difficult to get, as they pay rather well and every tiny role gets thousands applying - they aren't an easy option. Mitchell Pickens: We're in the same boat. I like your plan it is similiar to mine. Definitely work a part time job to raise money for traveling and necessities, it is key to be financially stable as an aspiring actor/actress, as far as television (I also want to make a living from television acting) practice, practice, practice. Take a class or get some training if you can. And please get a coach, because when you contact a talent agent they will want to see your resume and skills before they sign on to helping you, after you have an agent continue building your resume complete with headshots and let the agent notify tv auditions. It will take time.
