Jackson Esmiol: There is no global warming!
Inge Mclaurine: Fortunately here in the UK we're shielded from the worst effects of global warming. We have an infrastructure, agricultural system, transportation, communications &c that are flexible enough to deal with moderate fluctuations in the climate. We've had to engineer our island in this manner because our climate is fickle at the best of times. It had long been predicted that the most dramatic change to the UK climate would be increased precipitation and sudden flooding. In the longer term the warming climate will means Edinburgh will be more like Newcastle, Newcastle will be more like Leeds, Leeds will be more Like London, London will be more like Penzance &c.We're already seeing changes in agricultural practices with crops being grown in areas that previously wouldn't have been suitable, farmers are bringing in their harvests earlier than they did previously, the natural tree line has risen 50 metres (this b! eing the maximum altitude at which trees in the UK will grow - typically 550 metres but varies with location). In recent years there has been a marked rise in the number of floods, which you will be only too aware of. Just last week Cumbria saw flooding that should occur just once in 1,000 years and this came only 5 years after the last set of devastating floods to hit Cumbria. It also came just 2 years after the floods that devastated Gloucestershire, Oxford and surrounding areas and these also had a 'return event' of 1,000 years. These floods themselves came just a month after those that caused so much damage and loss of life in Yorkshire (these had a 400 year 'return event'). These three events alone have a probability of less than one in a million. If you take Boscastle, Glasgow, Perth, York and the dozens of other major floods in recent years then the probability of these events happening runs into trillions to one against.Floods have always occured in the UK, they! will continue to do so. Even without global warming there wo! uld almost certainly have been severe flooding. Where we've seen the changes is largely in the intensity of the rainfall and the frequency of intense rainfall. It's on these occasions when 6 months worth of rain falls in a single day that the risk of flooding greatly increases. The climatic effects - warmer all year round, more rainfall especially in the winter months - apart from the Eastern seaboard which may see a small fall in precipitation, less snow, more mist and fog, increased risk of storms.- - - - - - - - - Just a quick point to Kesla - today is the first time for weeks that the weather has been normal, what we're currently experiencing is typical for the end of November. For most of the year, and certainly these past few weeks, temperatures have been considerably higher then normal....Show more
Mayola Sylva: there is global warming but not caused by us , its caused by the massive flaming ball we circle ... it dosent matter what i think because the popula! tion of the UK is retarded , i live there.
Caterina Yeargan: None, it's still bloody cold and rainy.
Hyman Coren: global warming has been debunked...
Kirk Coolbeth: More Tree hugging hippies
Stan Conley: Im working with a company that is now helping the Uk with Vehicle Emissions by 33% ... its been helping out California and New York .. i just recently started a yahoo group 4 it http:â/â/âgroups.âyahoo.âcom/âgroup/âpollution_âsolution/â
Ardell Luy: It just won't snow here damn it! and summer is too hot last summer I was in Malta and it was the same heat back home
