Arnulfo Seegars: Well you have a nice budget to work with so I would strongly suggest going to your local independent hi-end audio video store, as they carry the better brands of equipment, and the salesmen generally have many years experience designing quality audio video systems. There are number of things to consider to design and install these systems correctly, to both make it work right, and make it easy to use.The first step is deciding on the best layout of the room. The system certainly can be free standing, but if you want a certain look and don't want to see any of the speakers or equipment then ideally you will need attic access to make the installation easier. It is important to choose your video display by the sitting distances. If your sitting less then 14 feet then a TV is the most practical and will give you the best image. If your sitting farther distances a TV is going to provide to small a image, and a projector and screen is a better option. The! nice thing right now is there are some great looking projectors at reasonable price ranges. Do not underestimate the importance of the screen though it has a large effect on the picture quality. You will also need to have a room you can control the light.Personally I would suggest going for a sound system that provides quality of sound over quantity of sound. A bad sounding loud system is just more annoying then enjoyable. Again the salesmen at these hi-end stores should be able to help you design a sound system that sounds good to your ears and works well in the room it will go in.Installation and calibration is also essential to get good sound and video.Kevin40 years hi-end audio video specialistIf you would like some advice on gear feel free to send me an email....Show more
Roland Stampley: I would take a look around at sites and see what other people have done for that size room, You may also want to take a look at DLP models, they are less expensive than pla! sma and LCD in sizes 70inch and above, and less wiring than pr! ojectors, an electrician can help you do a lot of things and are usually less expensive than home Cinema installers but what an electrician is not going to know are the latest ideas in technology . and acoustic theory.a good place in your area for ideas and advise is Home Cinema 604-606-1888 also see link for other places, that do that type of work, for in wall speakers you may want to take a look at Definitive Technology, or Boston Acoustics if your home theater is going to be a dedicated room you probably want to go with an in-wall installed speaker system, it gives your room a more professional look less wires showing, customized sound, and you can use custom built speakers designed for your room, and acoustics...for Electronics I would look at Integra or Rotel what you really need to do though is do research on your own look at other theaters that people have made get acquainted with the equipment that is available, with acoustic theory, and whats being done and why, ! that way you can make intelligent decisions about your choices and whats needed and whats not... Today with the Internet the amount of information is incredible, and there are plenty of people that have knowledge and advise on every aspect...Show more
